Next up: The Surf Challenge

No sooner does one challenge finish but another starts!

On 28th October, a group of kids from the Eagles Wings school will leave their land locked home of Zambia for the first time and head to the ocean to learn to surf with a group of Aussie surfers for the Surf Challenge

We believe that through challenges and adventure people are often forced to reconsider their view of the world and their role within it. The purpose of this trip then is to stretch the participants and create space for life change.

The kids will learn to surf, take part in leadership activities and be stretched in new and unique ways.

The Aussie Surfers will also be challenged as they spend the week before in the community where the students at Eagles Wings Christian Community School live on the outskirts of Ndola, Zambia. This will stretch their understanding of poverty, joy, life, simplicity and faith.

Update

The Kids are already getting excited for Jbay! This challenge is HUGE for them as there could be generations of families who have never left the town they live in...or even own a passport!!!!

They have their passports now - which is achievement in its self, the first thing they did when they received them was all laugh at each others photo!!!

Niccy is doing a great job with the swimming lessons. They are learning freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke. Also water safety and we are having competitions for how can hold their breath the longest! But everything ends up being a competition!!!

Over the next two weeks we will be continuing with the swimming lessons. The students will be doing some interviews about their background and expectations of flying on a plane, the ocean and also how they feel about the opportunity they have. Watch a surf movie and try and explain that the ocean isn't scary and full of sharks! haha.

Keep up to date with the preparations for the Surf Challenge on the EWAustralia Facebook Page (don't forget to 'Like' us to get regular updates) and please also consider signing up to the Eagles Wings Education Program which helps us provide a quality education to these fabulous kids for just $12.50 per month..
