Films & Media"I am a parent. When I see these street children, I see my own children at home and it pains me greatly. It is necessary for everyone to get involved and to act responsibly to ensure that kids can go back to their families, because the best roof, the best home and the best protection is the family." — Andre IIunga Social Worker, Dem. Headwinds of Poverty

Headwinds of Poverty

Headwinds of Poverty is a documentary about three normal Aussie guys who thought riding their mountain bikes 5500km through 7 Southern African countries sounded like a good idea. Their hope was to ride 200km + a day for 27 days in order to raise ongoing support for 200 children living in extreme poverty to attend and complete their primary education, as part of a holistic development project. Throughout the journey, the riders had to face numerous difficulties including, headwinds, terrain, weather, border crossings, roads – or lack thereof – limited supplies and a diet that consisted at some points of chocolate, coke and chips in order to achieve the near impossible target.

Headwinds of Poverty is a partnership between Orsino Media and Eagles Wings, with Global Development Group responsible to AusAid for the project being supported in Zambia. For further information visit the Headwinds of Poverty website.
